Tulip - Fosteriana - Red Emperor

The Tulip ‘Red Emperor’, or ‘Madame Lefeber’, ‘Tulipa fosteriana’, is a fall planted bulb. This old-time favorite, loved by all gardeners, produces very large, bright vermillion-scarlet blooms. Highly recommended for your early spring garden. It wouldn’t be spring without Red Emperors, crowning the garden with rich color. These tulips bloom in early spring for a 3 week period. For the best effects, plant the bulbs in clusters of 5 to 15 bulbs of one variety, or scatter clusters throughout the garden or flower border. Tulips do best in well-drained soil. It is advisable not to plant tulips in the same location in the garden year after year. If possible, plant in a somewhat sheltered location. Tulips are excellent for mass planting, rock gardens, containers, cut flowers, and borders.
