    Daffodil - Jonquilla - Quail

The Daffodil ‘Quail’, ‘Narcissi jonquilla’, a fall planted bulb, is a delicate beauty for the front of the border, in pots or in the rock garden. It is a free-flowering miniature with dark yellow almost orangish colored cups. The blossoms last up to 4 weeks and appear in very early spring. They are great for mass plantings, containers, and borders. Quail bulbs, once planted, can remain in the ground for many years. They will multiply and produce the most abundant flowering results in the 2nd and 3rd year. If necessary, very large clumps of bulbs can be lifted as soon as the leaves wither, and then they can be divided and replanted as soon as possible. After flowering, let the leaves yellow before cutting them back. The plants are deer, rabbit, and squirrel resistant.

    Daylily - Edge of Darkness

The Daylily Edge of Darkness, ‘Hemerocallis’, has fragrant, 4″ soft lavender flowers, a strong yellow throat, along with very visible purple petticoat-like edges. Mid-season bloomer, this is a semi-evergreen variety. Carefree and colorful, these daylilies have been developed for their vibrant long-lasting color. They provide an amazing number of beautiful blooms on tall stems. Daylilies are the perfect perennial. Each plant sends up many flower stems, and each stem bears 12 or more buds. Bloom is lavish and continues for several weeks or more on each plant. Trouble-free, maintance-free, they tolerate most soils and conditions if they get at least 6 hours of sun. Use them in a perennial border, in front of shrubbery, as an edging along a walk or wall, and in your bulb beds, where they hide the ripening foliage of tulips and daffodils. They need dividing only every 10-15 years. Plants 18-24″ apart.
