Coleus - Aurora Black CherryThe Coleus Aurora Black Cherry, ‘Coleus hybrid’, has burgundy red foliage with bright lime edges. These new, bigger, sun loving varieties have revolutionized container gardening. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow however they are tender annuals. Frost will cause them to die immediately. Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. These plants will do best in temperatures above 55 degrees. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. Coleus must have good soil drainage. This plant can also be a perennial in warmer zones.

The plants are bushy, 1 to 2 foot tall and 2 foot wide. They produce small round, pale, grey-green, velvety, aromatic leaves. Tiny white or pink flowers occur in the summer. Sweet Marjoram is primarily used for culinary purposes. Marjoram is used with sausage, egg dishes, cheese dishes, lamb, veal, fish, green vegetables, carrots, beef, eggplant, cauliflower, dressings, squash, and tomatoes. Plant in the spring in well drained soil. Legend has it that if you touch Sweet Marjoram before bedtime, you will dream of your future spouse.

They are great in window boxes and pots either inside or outside. Their culinary uses includes salads, soups, butters, fish, and poultry. Green River Parsley is a very nutritious herb containing large quantities of vitamins and mineral such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium.
