    Chinese Lantern Lily

    Chinese Lantern Lily

    The Chinese Latern Lily, ‘Sanersonia aurantiaca’ produces bright orange flowers, which bloom all summer long on short stems. The little flowers are shaped like chinese lanterns or hanging bells. The Chinese Latern Lily will bloom all summer long in the right climate and prefers well-drained soil and full sun. It may require some support as it is a climber. The Chinese Latern lily was Introduced in South Africa in 1852 and will make a great addition to any landscape.

    Calla Lily - Mango Hybrid

    The Calla Lily Mango Hybrid, ‘Zantedeschia’, spring planted tuber, produces wonderful orange flowers with lightly splotched foliage. The flower is trumpet like in form and has a waxy texture. Calla Lilies are also know as pig lilies. The Calla Lily has sword-shaped leaves which are formed at the end of celery-like stalks. The leaves are heart-shaped and are a rich, dark green color that may be speckled. The Calla Lilly makes an excellent cut flower and are great container plants.

    Bird Scare Flash Tape

    A slight breeze is enough to cause a fluttering sound and mirror-like reflections that will scare away even the bravest birds. Attach the streamers to tree limbs, trellises, sprinkler risers, etc. Use 2 ft. long streamers in orchards and 8-10 inch streamers in vegetable rows or grapes, placing them one/10-20 ft. in problem areas.

    Blue Nest Spruce

    The Blue Nest Spruce, Picea mariana ‘Nana’, is a slow growing, dwarf, globe-shaped evergreen with blue-green foliage and a dense compact habit. It is an excellent specimen for the landscape or rock garden, so Blue Nest would be a standout your rock garden. This dwarf plant displays an attractive broad dense globe of blue-gray needles and requires practically no maintenance. It is also great in shrub borders. The Blue Nest Spruce prefers a sunny location and a well-drained soil, but can tolerate poor soil. This is an excellent plant for adding structure, color and texture to your yard or garden.     Mutsu

    The Mutsu Apple has a moderately sweet flavor with firm, juicy and cramy white flesh. Its skin color is a yellowish green with an orange blush. The Mutsu apple is also known as Crispin. This apple is vigorous, fairly early, and the fruit is large and oblong shaped. It is excellent for fresh eating, sauces, pies, and baking. This apple stores and keeps well.

    White Mulberry

    The White Mulberry tree, Morus Alba Tatarica, has many common names, such as, White mulberry, Russian mulberry, Silkworm mulberry, and Moral blanco. The White Mulberry is an excellent and handsome shade tree and is often planted on field edges in irrigated, semi-arid lands where it is also valued for fruit, poles and timber. This deciduous trees has a deep-rooting habit which makes it a suitable tree for linear plantings. It is a widely grown fruit which can be eaten fresh, preserved, vinified or, in some semi-arid areas, dried for winter use. Mulberries thrive in full sun and dislike crowded conditions; they prefer deep soils and need good drainage; they are frost resistant. Mulberries thrive over a very wide range of warm temperate, sub-tropical and tropical conditions.

    Borage

    Borage

    The Borage, ‘Borage officinalis’, is like a handful of little stars plucked from a deep blue sky and sprinkled on a summer salad that may drive away all melancholy and it is nutricious, tastefully useful herb! Borage is a large plant. The flowers are usually blue, but may be pink or lavender. The Borage is an excellent bee plant and the leaves contain copious amounts of vitamins and minerals, especially calcium, potassium, and vitamin C. Borage leaves can be steamed as you would spinach or chard or used raw in salads, iced beverages, or in salad dressings. The stems can also be peeled and chopped and used like celery. The edible flowers can be used as garnish on green or fruit salads or candied for winter use. This is a very easy to grow ornamental plant for beginning gardeners. Plant in the spring after all danger of frost has past and in mild climates, plant anytime. Borage prefers well drained rich soil.

    Iris - Butter & Sugar

    The Siberian Iris Butter & Sugar, ‘Iris Siberica’, a spring planted herbacious root, produces beautiful yellow and white flowers. Siberian Irises are very easy to raise. They have graceful stems, a neat growth habit, and their bloom foliage is outstanding. The foliage is attractive all year, even after the first frost when the plant turns a red-brown color. These Irises are used in perennial borders and for landscaping. Siberian irises are very adaptable and hardy plants. They prefer soils that are highly organic, but will do fine with average soils.

    Herb - Pineapple Sage

    The Pineapple Sage, ‘Salvia elegans’, is a semiwoody, mostly herbaceous, subshrub, 3-5 ft () in height with an open-branched, airy habit. . Like most mints, pineapple sage has square stems. The bruised foliage of Pineapple sage really does smell like fresh pineapple. The red tubular flowers emerge in August. Use pineapple sage in the center of beds and borders, where its open, airy structure will not hide other plantings. It will grow to shrub size in a single season. Pineapple sage is often grown as an annual and often grown in containers. Northern gardeners can cut pineapple sage back and dig it up in autumn to overwinter indoors. The sages are tough and easy to grow and many attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The fresh leaves of pineapple sage are used in fruit salads and drinks. Crush a few fragrant leaves into hot or iced tea for a flavorful treat. The delicious flowers add color and flavor to salads and deserts. Pineapple sages make a stunning center piece or border plant.

    Hardy Gloxinia

    The Hardy Gloxinia, ‘Incarvillea delavayi’, a spring planted herbacious root, produces lovely pink flowers and are excellent container plants. The large, 3 inch, trumpet-shaped flowers come in clusters of 8 to 10 blooms. They prefer to be planted in a protected area that is fertile and well drained. Remove faded flowers to prolong bloom period. Protect this herbacious perennial in the winter.
