Daylily - Strawberry CandyThe Hemerocallis Strawberry Candy, also known as a Daylily, has a wonderful strawberry-pink flower with rosy-red eye zone with a golden green throat and ruffled edges. It has a flower size of 4. 5. With dark green foliage, this Daylily will reach a height of 26 and a plant spread of 12-24. Winning the Stout Silver Medal in 1998, the Award of Merit in 1996 and Honorable Mention in 1993, one can see why. Strawberry Candy will bloom from May through July, with outstand color and a definite reblommer. Strawberry Candy prefers a full sun area that is well-drained. Although the blooms will last only for one day, there are many blooms on strong stems that rise above tall grassy foliage, (remove in late fall). Mary Todd is considered to be pest and deer resistant. Use for cut flowers, massing, edging, in borders or in mixed containers and tubs.
Honey LilyThe Honey Lily, ‘Nectaroscordum siculum’, a fall planted bulb, is also know as Sicilian Honey Lily or Sicilian Honey Garlic. The Honey Lily produces clusters of gracefully drooping flowers that are white with a maroon streak down each petal and green at the base. The large loose shaded bell-like blooms face downward. When it has flowered the seed heads then do a reverse and face stiffly upwards. The lovely blooms adorn tall stems. This plant is a relative of Allium, which is apparent when the leaves are crushed, but with very unique flowers. It is not a small or subtle plant, but it does make an interesting accent plant in the spring garden. They bloom in late spring and they can tolerate planting in sun or shade.
